Apple’s Vision Pro virtual reality headset officially launched in the United States on Friday. Customers who preordered the headset will now begin receiving it or can pick it up at Apple Store locations. Apple CEO Tim Cook marked the release by appearing at the company’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City on Friday morning. During an interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer at the event, Cook addressed the high price of the Vision Pro, describing it as “tomorrow’s technology today” and emphasizing its innovative features. The starting price for the Vision Pro is $3,500.
Cook mentioned that customers have the option to spread their payments over time through a monthly financing plan, making it more affordable for some. He highlighted the headset’s extensive innovation, boasting about its 5,000 patents. During Apple’s earnings call on Thursday, Cook noted that the Vision Pro is gaining traction as an enterprise product, with companies like Walmart, Nike, Vanguard, Stryker, Bloomberg, and SAP investing in the headset as a platform for both customers and workers. Despite its enterprise appeal, Cook believes that Apple can maintain a focus on both consumers and enterprises, given the headset’s versatile applications and the availability of more than 600 apps and games designed for a spatial computing experience.
